Technology behind SCSMath Search Engine

Sri Caitanya Sarawat Math search engine uses Noviforum Search/Web search technology. Noviforum Search/Web is the industry's most innovative Web search engine software written entirely in Java. With the Noviforum Search/Web, Internet Service Providers, media companies, and other Web proprietors can integrate Web search into Internet portals, media- and other Internet-destination sites. The technology is ideally suitable for enabling focused searches on selected subsets of the Web, i.e. country- and topic-specific search engines as it is used in this case for searching through all Sri Chaitanya Saraswat Math related pages. You can get more information about the technology here.

Hardware and Internet connection

The Sri Chaitanya Sarawat Math search engine is running on one Celeron based PC with 512 MB of SDRAM and a 120GB Seagate ATA/100 hard disk. It is being conneted to the internet with one ADSL (Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line) with 2048 Kb/s downstream and 768 Kb/s upstream. Since the page itself is not "heavy" in design this should be sufficient for average use.

SCSMath Search Engine

We add and update new sites to our index each time we crawl the the entire Navadwip Sri Chaitanya Saraswat Math's website (www.scsmath.com), through all the scsmath.org websites in various languages, and all other Math related websites, and we invite you to submit your URL here. We do not add all submitted URLs to our index. The inserted page and all the links that our spider finds at this address will be inserted into the index at next refresh. Only HTTP URLs will be accepted and checked by the administrator.

Regarding the searching here are a few tips and tricks to start you off:

1. The search engine is case sensitive, so searches like govinda and Govinda will generally give different results.

2. If one is not sure how to spell different words one can use wildcards such as ? or *. For example let's have a look at a few different search conditions.

Govarddhan Puja gives only a few hits. Why is that so? Well people usualy don't spell Govardhan with double "d". But if one is not sure how to spell it, or if search engine gives strange or a few results, one can resort the asterix "*" for help. So one can change the search condition to govard*han puja or even just to govard*. That looks much better, doesn't it?

While the asterix replaces none, one or many characters the ? (question mark) replaces one and only one character. So the querry na?ad?ip searches for navadvip, nabadwip, nabadvip, navadwip...

Another useful feature is image search. Get a lot of pictures of Srila Gurudeva right here. One just has to click on the "Images" link on the search form and off you go. Besides image search this search query also demonstrates the use of Cyrilic characters for all the Russian devotees.

I think that will be sufficient. For all the contextual and editorial remarks as well as any technical or other questions or suggestions please feel free to cantact Ananta-priya dasa.
